Electricity prices could become cheaper in the future with the opening of new cross-border pipelines, the ESB said..

Three upgraded pipelines linking the cross-border electricity systems have been officially opened. The joint-ESB and Northern Ireland Electricity pipelines will improve security of power for people throughout the country.

The interconnectors represent investment of over €26m, and ESB says it hopes they will lead to cheaper electricity in the long run.
