Video footage has emerged of the large inflatable Minion balloon which disrupted traffic in North Dublin on Monday, which became an internet sensation this week.
The balloon - estimated at between 30 and 40 feet tall - came free from its tethered place in Santry and flew into cars on the Old Swords road.
Last night, motorist Dónal Sharpson uploaded footage of the enormous balloon rolling over vehicles and towards fleeing pedestrians.
At one point in the footage, the enormous minion - from the 'Despicable Me' film franchise - rolls directly on to Sharpson's car.
Eyewitness Erin van Londen, who took photos of the bizarre incident, said: “It was causing traffic problems, it got on top of three cars at different stages and one car lost a rear view mirror, but that was the most damage the Minion did.”
Despite the interest the story has generated online and the humour surrounding it, Dublin Councillor Paul McAuliffe criticised the lapse in safety behind the odd incident.

"[It] may at first glance seem like a humorous social media story. However it could have led to a far more serious incident” said Cllr McAuliffe.
“I have referred the matter to Dublin City Council’s planning enforcement department to investigate if the inflatable cartoon character was the subject of any planning regulation and to question as to whether operators had implemented the appropriate health and safety measures."
