Prince has advised Justin Bieber to “get a good teacher”.

The 52-year-old star is one of the 16-year-old singer’s biggest influences and now his idol has spoken out to give him tips on emulating his own long career.

He explained on US TV show ‘The View’: "The key to longevity is to learn every aspect of music that you can, and I hope that he does pick up an instrument and gets a good teacher."

Meanwhile Prince's ‘Purple Rain’ released in 1984 has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for 2011.

The hit single will be honoured alongside The Beatles' ‘Penny Lane’ (1967), Otis Redding’s ‘I've Been Loving You Too Long’ (1965) and Ray Charles’ 1961 hit ‘Genius + Jazz Soul’.

Willie Nelson’s ‘On the Road Again’ (1980) and Hank Williams’ ‘Lovesick Blues’ (1949) were chosen from the country music genre.

Established by The Academy's National Trustees in 1973, the Grammy Hall Of Fame was created to recognise recordings of lasting historical significance that are at least 25 years old.

The organisation has honoured a total of 881 titles since it was first created.
