Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has received clearance to make his debut for Aston Villa against Slaven Belupo in Saturday's InterToto Cup tie at Villa Park.

However, Schmeichel, who led United to Champions League victory in 1999, will have to battle with Peter Enckelman for a place in the starting line-up.

Villa's two other summer signings, Moroccan midfielders Hassan Kachloul and Mustapha Hadji, are also available to make their debuts this weekend.

Slaven lead the tie 2-1 on aggregate following the first leg in Croatia.
