Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted car hijacking in West Belfast.

A 27-year-old woman stopped her Volkswagen Polo at pedestrian lights on Colligan Street at about 7.40pm last night.

A man jumped out of a Volkswagen Golf stopped in front, and tried to force the woman out of her car.

She managed to reverse and drive away.

The man is described as about 30 years’ old, with short dark hair, wearing white Nike runners and a dark zip-up top.

It is thought there were two other men in the Golf at the time.

Police believe there were people outside a nearby pub at the time of the incident who may have information.
