VFI calls for new laws on unruly customers

The Vintners Federation of Ireland has called for legislative changes to help publicans deal with unruly customers.

The Vintners Federation of Ireland has called for legislative changes to help publicans deal with unruly customers.

The call follows a number of alleged violent incidents during weddings in Co Meath and Co Kildare in recent weeks.

VFI spokesman Tadhg O'Sullivan said the request for legislative change has nothing to do with discrimination.

"The rights of somebody to have a pint in a pub must not supersede the right to life of a publican or his staff or his customers," he said.
