The Irish Auctioneers and Valuers Institute has predicted a slight slowdown in the housing market this year.

The IAVI said it expected house prices to increase by at least 7% in 2004, compared to 11% last year.

The institute said the slowdown would reflect an increased supply of new houses during the

coming year, particularly in Dublin.
