Work on the controversial Millennium Spire is due to begin in Dublin this morning.
The 120m monument is being constructed on the spot where Nelson’s Pillar once stood, before it was demolished by the IRA in the 1960s.
The Spire, which was chosen from 200 potential designs, has caused much controversy, with many people saying it will be an eyesore and a waste of money.
It was even subject to a High Court challenge before being cleared for construction.
