Local authorities from around the country are gathering in Dublin today to discuss their role in tackling climate change.

Local authorities from around the country are gathering in Dublin today to discuss their role in tackling climate change.

The meeting marks the first time that the Government has called every city and county council together to discuss the issue.

The councils are being asked to come up with co-ordinated ways to tackle environmental challenges in the areas of planning, waste management and flood strategy.
