Dublin street in chaos after car runs amok

Several people have been injured seriously on Dublin's Henry street when a stolen car ploughed into pedestrians before colliding with a van in the past hour.

A stolen 1993 Ford Escort zigged-zagged down O'Connell street before turning onto Henry street where it knocked down several pedestrians before colliding with the back of a construction van that had several passengers.

The man was arrested by gardai after being plucked from an angry mob which had surrounded his car

All the emergency services have arrived on Henry Street, including three ambulances.

Many people are in tears at the scene, which has been partially barricaded by the gardai in an attempt to bring the situation under control.

Seven people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries while many other minor injuries have been reported.

Gardai have arrested one non-national man believed to be the driver of the vehicle.
