ISEQ down at close

The ISEQ index of Irish shares continued the trend set in morning trading, closing down 24.58 points at 2,138.83.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares continued the trend set in morning trading, closing down 24.58 points at 2,138.83.

Index majors on the fallers' board included Ryanair, down 18c to 2.76; Aer Lingus, slipping 2c to 0.58; Kerry Group, down 5c to 14.25, and CRH, shedding 50c to 15.95.

There was postive news among the financials, with AIB rising 2c to 0.72, Bank of Ireland up 6c to 0.85 and Irish Life & Permanent cheering 4c to 1.30.

Other risers included Elan Corp, up 46c to 4.48; Paddy Power, rising 11c to 12.60, and Glanbia, up 6c to 2.27.
