The opening of four Poundland stores and vacancies at two others will mean the creation of 140 jobs, the company said today.

Shops are to be opened in Enniskillen, Newry, Dungannon and Bangor, and staff are also to be recruited for outlets in Derry and Ballymena.

Poundland, which opened its first Irish store in Belfast in October last year, has 14 stores across the North, and by the end of the year there will be six more, according to retail operations director Tim McDonnell.

He added: "It is forecast that Northern Ireland will be our most successful region in the UK."
