Gardaí are searching for a man who attacked an ambulance crew as they treated a stab victim in Dooradoyle this morning.

Gardaí are searching for a man who attacked an ambulance crew as they treated a stab victim in Dooradoyle this morning.

The incident happened in Ballycummin Village shortly after 6am when emergency services responded to reports that a woman in her twenties had been stabbed by her boyfriend.

While the paramedics were attending to the woman’s injuries, a man broke into the back of the ambulance and attempted to assault all on board.

The man broke some of the vehicle’s windows before he was brought under control.

The woman was brought to the Mid Western Regional Hospital and her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Local gardaí have confirmed that the man suspected of carrying out the attacks is known to them.
