A Dublin man has been found not guilty by a Central Criminal Court jury of a charge that he raped a teenage pregnant woman just hours after she became his tenant.

The 32-year-old separated father of three called out "thank you" to the jury which came to its unanimous decision after just over two hours deliberations on day-four of the trial.

Mr Justice Paul Carney discharged him from the court and thanked the jurors for their attention to the case.

The accused had denied raping the now 20-year-old woman on October 18, 2000 in a west Dublin location and told the jury they had "passionate" consensual sex twice that night after she asked him to play a taped love song several times over.
