The Environment Minister has moved to restrict the use of quad bikes and jet skis.

John Gormley wants to regulate their use in areas where they disturb or damage species protected under EU law.

Minister Gormley says power boats and jet skis can swamp the nests of water birds and damage sand dunes, whilst quad bikes destroy vegetation.

Farmers who use quads will not be targeted and landowners can object to any direction affecting their land.
