Bravedart moves into second round
'Bravedart' Jamie Harvey moved into the second round of the PDC Stan James World Matchplay with a battling win over Andy Jenkins.
The 12th seed came through 10-5 in the end much to the delight of the large contingent of Scottish fans in the Winter Gardens crowd in Blackpool.
Both players were far from at their best, missing a string of doubles and making for a tense encounter.
The game ebbed and flowed before Harvey opened up a three-leg advantage at 6-3 with some better finishing.
The Scot had the chance tenth leg to further stretch his lead missing three darts at double top and Jenkins made him pay by checking-out 65 to reduce the arrears to 6-4.
Harvey re-established his three-leg advantage taking the 12th and 13th legs with finishes of double eight and double top to take control at 8-5.
"I needed a win here," said Harvey
"I've played [Phil] Taylor in the first round the last two years and this was my chance to go on in the competition.
"I have great support here every year and I'm delighted to be through."
Harvey now faces Rocket Ronnie Baxter in the Last 16.
