EU fisheries ministers are meeting today to discuss emergency aid proposals aimed at helping fishermen cope with rising fuel costs.

EU fisheries ministers are meeting today to discuss emergency aid proposals aimed at helping fishermen cope with rising fuel costs.

The European Commission has proposed a €600m package of measures to help fleets hit hardest by the rising international cost of oil and diesel.

The Federation of Irish Fishermen is calling on the Government to implement the aid package immediately once it is agreed today.
