Davis, ranked 60th in the world, won the first frame, but O’Brien took three in a row to lead by two at the interval. Davis pulled one back after the break, but O’Brien took frame six with a 33 break and secured the win with a clearance in the seventh.

The Dubliner, who crashed out of the China Open in the first round last week, will now go on to play either Peter Ebdon or Stuart Pettman.
