An investigation is underway after a soldier died in a shooting incident at Government Buildings in Dublin last night.

An investigation is underway after a soldier died in a shooting incident at Government Buildings in Dublin last night.

The man was found in the military police quarters of the complex on Merrion Street by a colleague at around 11.30pm with a single gunshot wound to the head.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Garda forensic team will carry out a technical examination later today, while a Defence Forces inquiry will also be carried out.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
