Hopes of averting further strikes on London Underground rose today following a meeting between union leaders and the Mayor of London.
Rail Maritime and Transport Union General Secretary Bob Crow is believed to have held face-to-face talks with Ken Livingstone to try to settle a row over pay which led to a 24-hour strike last month.
The meeting, brokered by TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber appears to have helped clear the air following a bitter row between the union and the Mayor.
Mr Livingstone angered the RMT when he said he would cross picket lines if he was a Union member because he would want to accept the pay deal on offer.
The Union has been calling on Mr Livingstone to intervene personally in the dispute over pay and hours.
The meeting is believed to have been held at the TUC Head Office in London last week and will be followed by further discussions.
