SF: Meeting between Taoiseach and SDLP 'a huge mistake'
Sinn Féin has criticised a meeting between the Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the SDLP.
Mr Kenny has intervened to try and save the Stormont Assembly, and he wants the SDLP to agree to the DUP's demands to adjourn the power-sharing executive for talks.
The Executive is close to collapse after the murder of Kevin McGuigan in Belfast after the PSNI said the Provisional IRA may have been involved, even though it is supposed to have disbanded.
Sinn Féin's Mary Lou McDonald says the Executive should not be adjourned and the meeting today is a mistake.
Ms McDonald said: "It's a huge mistake and anybody that imagines that you save the insitutions by closing them down isn't thinking straight.
"It needs to be understood that any movement in that direction, far from being of any help, will simply add fuel to an already difficult situation."
The SDLP meeting with Mr Kenny in Dublin ended around 11.30 am with leader Dr Alasdair McDonnell now heading to Belfast to discuss the situation with party colleagues prior to the business committee meeting.
