Families await return of Irish couple

The families of a young couple who died in a suspected drowning accident on the Italian island of Sardinia, are waiting to find out when the bodies can be returned to Ireland.

The families of a young couple who died in a suspected drowning accident on the Italian island of Sardinia, are waiting to find out when the bodies can be returned to Ireland.

The couple, 25-year-old Barbara Mary Reeves from Pennywell in Limerick and her 32-year-old boyfriend, Gerard Sheehan O’Brien of Meelick Co Clare, died after they got into difficulties in the hotel swimming pool at the Italian holiday resort.

Post mortem examinations are being carried out on the two bodies today to try to discover the exact cause of death.
