Padraig Harrington is best placed of the Irish competitors on -13 with Paul McGinley just three strokes further back in the Deutsche Bank Open.
Argentina’s Eduardo Romero is the leader after day three of the tournament.
Romero shot a fantastic six under par 66 in what was a very low scoring day of golf in Germany.
However the main talking point this evening will be the collapse of New Zealander Michael Campbell who was the leader going into today.
Campbell was well clear of the field and at one stage was on nineteen under par before a double bogey on the twelfth and bogeys on the fourteenth and sixteenth left him with a round of 73 and tied for second with Tiger Woods.
The best Irish performance of the day came from Darren Clarke who first had to complete his second round and seemed set to miss the cut but finished the third round on four under.
Des Smyth is on -2 and Eamonn Darcy is +1.
