HSE to reveal number of child deaths 'within days'

Tánaiste Mary Coughlan has today confirmed that the Health Service Executive will reveal in a matter of days the number of children who have died in State care.

Initially, the HSE claimed the information would not be gathered together before the end of next month.

However, following a meeting between the executive, the Taoiseach and Health and Children Ministers yesterday, the information is now to be handed over in a matter of days.
