New Jordan split 'harder than divorce'

Katie Price has described the end of her relationship with cage fighter Alex Reid as more painful than her divorce from Peter Andre.

Katie Price has described the end of her relationship with cage fighter Alex Reid as more painful than her divorce from Peter Andre.

The glamour model said she could still get back together with Reid despite ending their relationship when quitting the Australian jungle.

She criticised ex-husband Andre, who she met and fell in love with during her first stint in the 'I’m a Celebrity' jungle, for not sticking up for her when her reputation nose-dived following their split.

Price, aka Jordan, told 'Hello!' magazine that she hoped Andre watched her during her second appearance on the ITV reality show.

She said: “My mind went into overdrive and I became really reflective.

“Last time I had Peter to content me – as soon as I woke up I’d be looking for him. But this time was way too hard. The constant good memories had become sad memories.

“All I could think about was my children – and also, unfortunately, of Peter, who was always on my mind – not that I want to get back with him, but I was hoping he was watching and thinking ’That’s the girl I married. She’s still the same.”’

Price, 31, said of the aftermath of her five-year marriage to pop star Andre: “The media kept playing me and Pete off against each other.

“All Pete had to do was say ’Hang on a minute! This is between me and Kate and I don’t want a bad word said about the mother of my children. She’s a good mum.’

“But not once did I see him stick up for me, and I find that very hard to understand.”

Price publicly ended her relationship with Reid, 34, while being interviewed by Ant and Dec on her exit from 'I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!'

Reid was said to have flown out to Australia to propose to the mother of three.

Price said: “I was really falling for the guy and I can’t just switch off feelings like that. So I’m not entirely ruling out anything between us.

“Strangely enough, I feel more hurt from this split right now than I did with Pete because I had known for some time from seeing a marriage counsellor that it probably wouldn’t have lasted.

“Lots of things had happened, whereas with Alex, it seems a fresh new start.

“But it’s very hard to say what will transpire between us because at the moment I’m absolutely livid about the whole situation.

“Alex insists he didn’t give the proposal story to a Sunday paper but I think he has been very naive and that people are taking advantage of him. If things get sorted out, then fabulous. If not, I’ll be on my own.”

She said of her own behaviour: “While I was in the jungle, looking back, I could see why people blew up and were felt furious.

“I can understand why they thought I was losing the plot. I’m sorry if I’ve offended some people, but I can’t regret what I’ve done in the past because it just reflected how I felt, and I thought it was right at the time.

“Perhaps I acted immaturely, but people forget that I was the one who was dumped.”

Asked whether she would swap her lifestyle for a happy marriage, she said: “I’d choose the happy marriage – 100%.”

She said of her life: “This is how outrageous it is: two so-called friends who have known me for years are trying to speculate that I’ve slept with my horse trainer, got pregnant and had an abortion. And I’m saying that because it is so ridiculous.”

Andre and Price are said to have finally agreed to begin talking over the care of the children – Harvey, seven, Junior, four, and two-year-old Princess Tiaamii.
