Doctors are battling to save the right hand of a 10-year-old boy following a firework accident in Co Down last week.

Doctors are battling to save the right hand of a 10-year-old boy following a firework accident in Co Down last week.

The boy, from Dromore, is believed to have been holding a home-made device made out of various fireworks and bangers when it exploded.

He has already lost the four fingers from his right hand and doctors in Belfast are trying to save his thumb and the remainder of the hand.
