A divers’ watch used by James Bond in the film Tomorrow Never Dies, which starred Pierce Brosnan, could fetch up to £15,000 when it goes on sale at auction today.
The stainless steel Omega gadget, used by current 007 Pierce Brosnan to detonate a bomb in the film’s climax, is part of the annual sale of movie memorabilia at Christie’s in London.
A three-piece wool suit and a pair of Church’s black leather brogues also worn by Brosnan are on offer (up to £3,000 and £1,500 respectively), along with a dinner suit worn by Sean Connery shortly before his first outing as Bond in Dr No (up to £2,000).
Swords used by two of Hollywood’s most dashing leading men are also on sale - a prop for Mel Gibson as William Wallace in Braveheart carries an estimate of up to £9,000, while one made for Richard Gere as Lancelot in the film First Knight could go for £1,500.
The sale boasts a large selection of Walt Disney items, including a rare 1932 drawing of Mickey Mouse which is expected to fetch as much as £7,000.
Disney made the drawing for French writer and designer Fabiano, whom he met at the 1932 Los Angeles Games, and signed it ‘‘Pour Fabiano, Walt Disney’’.
There is also a selection of original production backgrounds created by the cartoonist’s studios, including a gouache from The Jungle Book featuring Mowgli and Baloo which is expected to go for up to £9,500.
A scene from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with the witch offering the poisoned apple to the heroine, has an estimated price of £7,000.
Further highlights include 12 drawings from Peter Greenaway’s film The Draughtsman’s Contract, expected to sell for up to £8,000, conceptual artwork for Tim Burton’s Batman (up to £10,000) and two scale models of chicken sheds for Chicken Run, each accompanied by a cinema poster (£500 each).
