Ireland's two scouting organisations have agreed a merger.

Ireland's two scouting organisations have agreed a merger.

Both the Catholic Scouts of Ireland and the Scouting Association of Ireland voted for a union.

The move had been anticipated earlier in the week with Catholic bishops expressing their anxiety over a possible loss of the Catholic ethos.

Today's votes were passed by 67% for the SCI and 93% by the SAI.
