Man charged with Sligo murder remanded in custody and put on suicide watch

The man charged with the murder of 23-year-old Natalie McGuinness in Sligo on October 28 last, has been remanded in custody.

Oisin Conroy, of the Mews Mail Coach Road, Sligo, is to appear in court again on Friday, November 13.

33-year old Conroy, originally from Boyle, Co Roscommon, but with an address of The Mews, Mail Coach Road, Sligo, had been due before Sligo District Court today.

However, the court was told he was in the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum.

Garda Inspector Ray Mulderrig asked for a continuing remand to December 4, 2015.

Judge Kilrane was informed he did not have consent to a remand to December 4, 2015, and he remanded Conroy in custody, to appear at Harristown Court in Castlerea on November 13, 2015.

The court was told the adjournment was for preparation of the Book of Evidence.

Conroy has been on suicide watch since he was brought before Sligo District Court last week when his head was heavily bandaged and the court heard he had self-inflicted injuries.
