Tourist rescued in Clare

An elderly American tourist has been located following a major search operation in Co. Clare this afternoon.

An elderly American tourist has been located following a major search operation in Co. Clare this afternoon.

The man, who is in his 70s and suffers from an insulin-regulation problem, failed to return to his B&B last night.

The Shannon Helicopter was launched and Ennis Gardaí began a ground search this morning.

The man was located in a field and was treated by the coastguard paramedics from the helicopter before being airlifted to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where he is now recovering.
