Police in the North have arrested a 28-year-old man today in connection with a gun attack on officers during Monday night's riots in north Belfast.

A single shot was fired at police as they tried to control gangs of youths throwing bricks, fireworks and petrol bombs during the riots in Ardoyne.

Dissident republicans have been accused of orchestrating the violence to stoke sectarian tensions during the loyalist July 12 celebrations.
