The Director General of RTÉ has admitted that a series of mistakes were made by the broadcaster on the night of the 'Frontline' presidential debate.

Noel Curran is one of a number of RTÉ representatives appearing before the Oireachtas Communications Committee this morning to discuss the report of the editorial review into the programme.

"As a broadcaster, we feel we have to be in that space, we can't become irrelevent but it is difficult for us," he said.

"We are putting in place new guidelines. We are adamant people cannot tweet and express opinions. They just can't do it and we are clear around our own people on that."
