A man will appear in court this morning in connection with a robbery in Dublin at the weekend.

Two raider made off with a substantial amount of cash from a fast food outlet in Tallaght during the incident.

At about 20 minutes past midnight on Sunday morning staff at a takeaway in the Old Bawn Shopping centre in Tallaght were threatened by two men. They made off with the cash register containing a substantial amount of money.

Gardaí from Tallaght and Rathfarnham responded to the incident and two men were arrested in follow-up searches under section 40 of the criminal justice act.

A man in his 40s will appear before Tallaght District Court in connection with the incident.

Gardaí say a second man arrested as part of the investigation is due before court today on a separate matter.

Investigations into the robbery are continuing.
