Manchester United fell to another disappointing home defeat last night as rivals Manchester City scored three times and left with the points to continue their march towards a second title in three years.
Perhaps just as galling for United fans was seeing club legend Paul Scholes in the Sky Sports studios with no evident replacement on the pitch nearly a year after he called it a day for the second time, and almost three years on from his initial retirement.
His punditry debut didn’t get off to the best of starts when host Ed Chamberlain cut him off mid-
sentence much to Scholes’s displeasure.
Notoriously camera shy and media adverse throughout his career, Scholes surprised a few with his forthright views during the night.
The former midfield maestro certainly didn’t mince his words with regard to Arsenal who he claims have no leaders and lack discipline.
Jack Wilshere also came in for criticism from Scholes with the former Manchester United man claiming the England midfielder is yet to push on and deliver on the early promised he showed a few years ago.
Scholes did however back under-fire Manchester United manager David Moyes saying that the club must back their manager during the summer.
Chief amongst Scholes’s concerns with regard to United is a crumbling defensive unit and weak central midfield area, concerns shared by numerous United supporters.
