No-show soap star 'Ashley' facing producers
Coronation Street star Steven Arnold will meet senior producers today after an entire day’s filming had to be scrapped because he failed to turn up for work.
Furious TV bosses were unable to contact the actor, who plays butcher Ashley Peacock, after he failed to show up for work at 8am on Friday.
The whole day’s shooting was cancelled at a cost of thousands of pounds and will now have to be rescheduled.
Steven, 32, will meet senior executives who will quiz him about the absence today.
Cast and crew at Granada studios were left fuming and were eventually sent home.
A Coronation Street spokeswoman said: “He did not turn up for work on Friday morning and the day had to cancelled. We couldn’t raise him or find him all Friday and Saturday but he has now surfaced.
“I don’t know if he was ill or unaware he was needed for filming on the Friday. He will have to meet with producers to explain himself. He has never done it before and I am sure he won’t do it again.”
