Pat the Cope Gallagher will seek a nomination to stand for Fianna Fáil in Donegal South West at the next general election.

Pat the Cope Gallagher will seek a nomination to stand for Fianna Fáil in Donegal South West at the next general election.

Fianna Fail will hold a convention on January 27 to select two candidates for the election.

Fianna Fáil currently holds one seat in Donegal South West.

In a statement released today, Mr Gallagher said he hoped to secure a second seat for the party. "This I am sure is achievable with a well organised campaign," he said.

Mr Gallagher was elected to the European Parliament in 1994.
