An intensive search is resuming this morning for the four.

The Navy, Coastguard and Gardai searched the harbour around the Irish Fertilizer Industries dock at Marine Point.

The four men who were under ship arrest for most of the journey from North Africa to Ireland.

The stowaways were locked in a cabin during the voyage when the captain of the Cheshire was informed they were on board.

Authorities in Lisbon refused to allow them ashore when the vessel arrived there a few days ago.

Shortly before docking at the IFI plant last evening, the alarm was raised when it was reported the men were missing.
