Cork minor football manager Diarmuid O’Donovan has hit out at the severity of suspensions handed out by the GAC.

Cork minor captain Andrew O’Sullivan received a 12-week suspension, Michael Shields and Ray Carey both received eight-week suspensions, while selector Keith Ricken was handed down a 48-week ban.

“I am surprised at the severity of the suspensions handed down in some instances, because it doesn’t equate with what other people did. I still hold that our players got caught up in a situation that was not of our making and were only thinking about playing extra-time, when everything went off,” the Cork manager told the Evening Echo newspaper.
