The Green Party has reacted with scepticism to the proposed wording of the second referendum on the Nice Treaty later this year.
The wording contains a commitment that Ireland will not co-operate with any common EU defence policy, but Green TD John Gormley says this does nothing to safeguard Ireland’s neutrality.
Mr Gormley said: "“We said constantly that we require a protocol."
"The Government could have got a protocol, they didn’t do so, they haven’t enshrined neutrality in the Irish Constitution and so what we’re saying to the Irish people is that this Seville declaration is entirely bogus.
He continued: "Don’t be fooled by it and vote 'No'.
