Confidence among Irish consumers rose for the fourth month running in November as sentiment about the general economic outlook improved.
IIB Bank and the ESRI said their consumer sentiment index rose to 78.2 last month, the highest level in 16 months, from 68.0 in October.
The number of people signing for unemployment benefits fell for a second consecutive month in October, according to Live Register figures earlier this month.
The expectations index, rose to 72.6 in November from 58.1 in October.
However, the ESRI stressed that many consumers remain cautious about the outlook.
Almost 46% of consumers expect the economic situation to worsen, while nearly 62% predict unemployment will get worse.
