Bob Geldof is the new face of police recruitment in Great Britain.

He's appearing in adverts featuring the police's role in tackling child abuse.

The TV recruitment campaign will be backed by radio, newspaper and internet adverts.

He told the Daily Express he agreed to star in the adverts after having "positive contact" with the police.

He added: "There have been a couple of times when I needed help and they helped. I've found them to be hugely compassionate and understanding."

Home Office minister John Denham said: "The advert is particularly moving and helps to demonstrate the high calibre of people needed to join the force."
