Ireland’s Under-20s took a further step towards an RBS 6 Nations Grand Slam tonight with a victory against Scotland that leaves their opponents staring at the wooden spoon.

Scotland’s Cammy Ferguson and Ireland’s Ian Keatley exchanged penalties before Ireland were awarded a penalty try converted by Keatley.

Shane Monahan then sent in Darren Cave for a try, which Keatley also converted.

Scotland hit back, with flanker Richie Vernon dashing 30 metres for an unconverted try.

However, Ireland made sure with further tries from Richard Sweeney and Keith Earles, with one converted by Keatley and the other by Niall O’Connor.
