The ISEQ closed virtually unchanged today, up 1.37 points at 6744.74.
Irish Life and Permanent saw the biggest increase in share value among the financials, up 21c to €15.26. Bank of Ireland rose 10c to €13, with AIB was up 7c to €17.72. Anglo Irish Bank just about continued the upward trend, rising a cent to €11.31.
Construction company Kingspan finished the day up 6c at €10.96 following their announcement of a 54% increase in operating profits for the first six months of this year.
Ryanair saw a 14c rise to €6.74. The low-fares airline announced today that it had carried more passengers in August that British Airways did across its entire network. Ryanair currently operates 250 routes across 21 countries and this year will carry 35 million passengers.
All the positive news was balanced by some negative figures though - Elan helped reverse the trend with a significant 27c fall to €6.79 by the end of the day.
Builders Grafton fell 17c to €8.58, while Paddy Power saw a 45c drop to €14.35.
