Maskey defends closure of 26 local police stations

Sinn Féin's Alex Maskey is defending the PSNI's decision to close 26 local police stations.

Sinn Féin's Alex Maskey is defending the PSNI's decision to close 26 local police stations.

Unionists say the proposed closures, particularly in Fermanagh, are premature in the light of the dissident republican threat.

But Mr Maskey says most of the stations are already closed and fulfil no function other than reminding people of the past.
