Gardai in Limerick have launched a murder investigation following an overnight stabbing in the city.

Gardai in Limerick have launched a murder investigation following an overnight stabbing in the city.

The body of a man in his twenties was found in the doorway of an apartment at Catherine Place shortly before midnight last night.

He had been stabbed several times.

Gardai at Henry Street are probing the murder and a forensic team will examine the scene.

A post mortem will be carried out later today.
