Valentino Rossi secured his fourth consecutive MotoGP world championship in style with a thrilling win in the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island.
The Italian edged out title rival Sete Gibernau on the final lap to give Yamaha their first title since 1992.
Honda rider Gibernau, from Spain, had needed to win today’s race and hope Rossi finished out of the first two if he was to take the title fight into the final round in Valencia.
