The Minister for Health Micheal Martin is standing by his decision to continue with a non-statutory inquiry into the organs retention scandal.

Minster Martin was responding to the decision by the Parents for Justice group to take legal proceedings for damages against him and several hospitals.

Minister Martin says that the non-statutory investigation is the best way to investigate the matter.

Parents for Justice say they have been left with no alternative but to take legal action because they have not received sufficient answers on why their children's organs were kept.
