Police have fired water cannon in an effort to quell the crowds of loyalist protestors who remain at the scene of the Drumcree parade in Portadown.

Minor scuffles broke out at the scene of the police barricade which had been erected to prevent the parade marching along the Garvaghy Road.

Earlier today the local Orange Order marched up to the barricade, handed over an official letter of complaint and then proceeded along the alternative route.

It was thought that the crowd would then disperse but a large group of people remain at the scene and some small scuffles have been reported along with stone throwing.
