Birmingham slipped back into the relegation zone as they could only manage a goalless draw with Everton at Goodison Park.
On balance of play, Steve Bruce’s side were lucky to leave Merseyside with a point after spending long periods of the game on the back foot.
But Portsmouth’s comeback win over Sunderland means Birmingham’s Premiership fate is no longer in their own hands and unless they get at least two points - and probably more – in their final two games against Newcastle and Bolton, they will be relegated.
