Galway man charged with attempted murder of RUC Constable

A Galway man has appeared in court in the North charged with attempting to murder a member of the RUC last night.

A Galway man has appeared in court in the North charged with attempting to murder a member of the RUC last night.

23-year-old Brian Patrick McDonagh, with an address at Moyglass Place in Strathfoyle on the outskirts of Derry, appeared in Limavady Magistrates Court in Co Derry with his hands handcuffed behind his back.

He is charged with attempting to murder Constable Edwin Mulholland and with possession of a RUC issue Luger revolver.

The defendant, who denies the charges, was arrested following an incident in the Strathfoyle estate last night.

He was remanded in custody to appear back at Limavady Magistrates Court on August 14.
